AŽD Praha received another contract in Lithuania

At the beginning of this year, the Czech company AŽD Praha signed a contract for the completion and modification of the control and signalling technology for Lithuanian Railways on the line Kaunas – Kazlu Ruda.

The contract has a value of more than 43 million CZK, and it is a part of the reconstruction of the Rail Baltica railway corridor.

„The modification will cover four electronic interlockings ESA 11-LG and electronic automatic block ABE-1-LG, which were supplied by AŽD Praha already earlier for equipment of the corridor line Kaunas - Kybartai,“ clarifies the specification Ing. Petr Žatecký, Commercial Exports Director of AŽD Praha.

The Rail Baltica railway corridor interconnects the European railway network with the Baltic States. Rail Baltica is one of preferred TEN-T projects of European Union. By estimation, it will spent 3,2 to 3,7 billion EUR, here. From the given amount, approximately 550 million EUR will be invested on the territory of Lithuania, where the section with the length of 335 kilometres with the standard European track gauge is currently being built and modernized in stages.

This year, the AŽD Praha plans to participate in other two tenders for modernization of the railway signalling and telecommunication technology within the Rail Baltica project.
